Seœretary Churchill to inform you that, subject to your being passed by the Medical Adviser of this Department as physically fit for service, he proposes to select you for probationary appoint. ment sa a Junior Haster in the Education Department of Hong Kong, with salary at the rate of 2400 a year, rising by annual increments of £20 to £440 a year,

The currency of Hong Kong is a silver jollar currency, the exchange value of the dollar with sterling varying with the price of silver, The salaries fixed in sterling are paid to officers sotuslly serving in lang Long at a rate of conversion fized by the Government. This rate is now 2/- the dollar, but is liable to alteration. In view, however, of the fluctuation of the exchange value of the dollar a temporary exchangɔ allowan ia paid, varying from nil, when exchange is at or above 4/4d to the dollar, to 205 when exchange is at or below
